The milestone in May marked the end of our beginning phase. The success of our pilot program demonstrated our ability to implement a world class Quality Management System. The broader measure of success will be our ability to continue our progress and share methods throughout the company. Our next phase involved further cultivation of our processes, policies, and procedures, continual improvement of our products and services, and enhanced customer focus. For TSD this means annual assessments to reaffirm our standing. We have a model that works for TSD, and we hope to carry this forward to formulate the models that work for all divisions, and our company as a whole.
The major reason BSE leadership implemented an ISO 9000 Quality Management System is to maintain effective operations while we continue to grow. Our ISO 9000 approach is intended to make sure we run in an orderly manner that will assure continued success. Our goal is to run effectively and continue to satisfy our customers by delivering our services consistently and reliably. We greatly improve our operations by documenting what we need to do, and then by doing what we said we would. Since May of 2007 the BSE Technical Services Division has had successfully completed multiple surveillance audits performed by an external auditor. This is part of our ongoing periodic review process of our Quality Management System. The purpose of these audits is to ensure TSD continues to meet ISO 9001:2000 requirements.
The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) published revised Quality Management System requirements in November 2008. The current revision, which is called ISO 9001:2008, reflects the periodic review and revision cycle the ISO standard undergoes every 6-8 years. Since then, senior management has been moving right along…assessing impacts of the revision to our existing system of processes to ensure our products and services consistently meet requirements and we continue aims to enhance customer satisfaction.
BSE's Technical Services Division just completed putting the finishing touches on certification on the ISO 9001:2008 standards. On August 31st of 2010, we received our inspection/audit from Verisys Registrars and are now ISO 9001:2008 certified to this new standard. In 2011 the Technical Services Division of Bering Sea Eccotech expanded its certification to include Bering Sea Environmental Technical Services Division as well, making both divisions ISO 9001:2008 certified.
