Air-Moving
(Pneumatic Conveyance)
Air-moving or pneumatic conveyance is
a highly efficient and versatile process for removing salvageable
materials or industrial waste contained in tanks, containers,
surface impoundments or process vessels. Bering Sea air movers can
convey almost any material that will fit through an eight-inch hose
over a distance of up to 1,000 feet, depending on the materials
weight. Material or waste is deposited into truck- mounted
collector modules, drums or other intermediate containers for
transportation to its ultimate disposition. Our equipment has
significant versatility, making available numerous specialty
applications. Vessel-to-vessel transfer capabilities allow for
enhanced material recovery, where in the past such material may have
been disposed of as waste.
A wide range of materials can be
handled; wet, dry, non-hazardous and hazardous. Consistency can
range from fine powder to bricks. Specialty applications include
the unloading and reloading of tower packing, process vessels,
reactors and water treatment vessels. We also provide vessel-to
vessel transfer, on-line cooling tower cleaning, drumming of
accumulated materials, and some catalyst removal and loading.
Some air-movers have augers, sludge
pumps and pneumatic unloading systems for a variety of specialized
applications. Using a cyclone separator unit, material collected by
the air-mover can be either drummed or bagged for specialized
disposal requirements. Bering Sea also has air-mover/jet rodder
combination units that can clean sewer lines, catch basins and
sumps.

Mobile
Dewatering and Sludge Processing
Regulations regarding waste
minimization and bans on land disposal of liquids and hazardous
wastes have placed increased restrictions on sludge and semi-solid
waste handling. In addition, disposal costs for incineration and
other alternatives have increased astronomically. Bering Sea
provides its customers mobile dewatering and processing services as
a solution to sludge and wastewater disposal problems. Bering Sea
utilizes belt and filter recessed-chamber) presses and two and three
stage centrifuges
which can be set up on-site and can
produce up to 4 to 1 reduction of sludge volume?
Bering Sea can handle a variety of
waste streams, including tank bottoms, wastewater Catalyst, listed
waste streams (including F and K wastes) and sludges from water
Treatment plants. In the case of tank bottoms, our processing units
can recover a large portion of the oil content from the sludges,
returning it to the customer for recycling. Effluent can frequently
be discharged back to the customers system
effectively reducing overall system
load. Manufacturing, food processing, and pulp and paper mill waste
can also be dewatered, decreasing overall volume and thereby
reducing the cost of landfill disposal, recycling or incineration.
In most cases, dewatering sludges sufficiently reduces the liquid
content to allow landfill disposal.
Bering Sea operates thermal
desorption units (dryers), which are used to increase the dry solids
content of the final filter cake. This process drives off
additional moisture and most volatile organic compounds (“VOCs”).
Most VOCs can be condensed and returned to the plant. Remaining
solids contain an average of 10 percent moisture, resulting in
significant volume reductions in material to be incinerated
or introduced into waste-to-fuel
programs.

decontaminate process vessels, including those with NESHAPs-regulated
benzene vapors. Further application include passivation to reduce
future fouling or corrosion of processes systems. Chemical
cleaning can significantly reduce
downtime compared to mechanical cleaning methods which is important
in critical path situations?
Each project is designed by an
experienced engineer, who assists in identifying deposits and
metallurgy. Once this analysis is completed, the appropriate
solvent is selected. We have experience in cleaning a variety of

Storage Tanks
Bering Sea provides temporary storage
tank rental for demineralized water, chemicals, tank bottoms,
sludges, black liquor and other materials, both hazardous and
non-hazardous. We provide two options. The first is Bering Sea’s
proprietary “Super Tank,” a 500-bbl. (21,000 gallon) steel tank
built to ASME specifications. These tanks come complete with
collapsible handrails, walkways and toe guards built to OSHA
specifications. Highly versatile, this tank can handle positive
pressures up to 15 psi and negative pressures up to 9 inches of
mercury, thereby providing vapor proof storage. For viscous
materials, a heating coil can be placed through the bottom manway.
The “Frac Tanks” is skid-mounted for delivery by a low-profile
roll-off truck. Unlike traditional frac tanks, structural integrity
is ensured since the “Frac Tank” is built to a known specification,
and cleaning is greatly simplified by the elimination of internal
struts, supports and corners inside.
The second option is a polyethylene
tank with capacity up to 4,000 gallons, which is excellent for
corrosive material storage. The poly tank has a safety ladder with
working platform and safety chains, designed for personnel
protection under OSHA standards. It also has a revolutionary sloped
